# Where you're missing

> The prompts where AI answers name your direct competitors, but never you.

**A prompt appears in "Where you're missing" when, in the chosen period, its answers name at least one direct
competitor and none of them names you.**

## The rule

```
gap = 0 mentions of your brand  and  at least 1 mention of a direct competitor
```

Everything is counted on the finished answers in the period, with the model filter applied.

## Severity

Next to each prompt, **"N competitor mentions"** shows: how many times direct competitors were named in the
answers to that prompt. Each competitor counts once per answer, so 3 competitors in 4 answers can give at
most 12. More means a more visible gap.

## Example

A prompt has 5 answers. None names you; Competitor A appears in 4, Competitor B in 2: **6 competitor
mentions**.

## What else you see on the row

- **The competitors that appeared** and how many times.
- **What they win on**: the attributes answers associate with the competitors (price, experience, location…), with the
  number of occurrences.
- **The models** where the gap shows up.

## What counts and what doesn't

| Counts | Doesn't count |
|---|---|
| Competitors marked "Direct Competitor" | Ignored, unrelated or unmarked brands |
| Prompts with at least one competitor named | Prompts where nobody is named |

## How to read it

- A prompt lands here only if you are **completely** missing in the period. Where you appear rarely, but do appear, look
  at [visibility per prompt](https://survelium.com/docs/metrics/visibility.md) on the Prompts page.
- For the sources side (who is cited, not just named), see [Missing sources](https://survelium.com/docs/metrics/missing-sources.md).

## Where it appears

- **Where you're missing** — the list of prompts, sortable by severity.
- **See the comparison** on a prompt opens its [comparison with cited pages](https://survelium.com/docs/optimization/page-comparison.md) in
  Recommendations, when it has one.
