# Your domain share of citations

> Of all the links AI answers give, the part that leads to your site.

**Your domain share of citations shows what part of all the links given by AI answers leads to your site.**

## Formula

```
your share of citations = citations to your site ÷ all citations × 100
```

A **citation** is a link in an answer. An answer with 5 links has 5 citations.

## Example

In the period, answers gave 200 links; 12 lead to your site:

```
12 ÷ 200 × 100 = 6%
```

## What counts and what doesn't

| Counts | Doesn't count |
|---|---|
| Every link in the finished answers in the period | Failed runs |
| Links to your domain, with or without `www` | Your subdomains (`blog.site.ro`) count as other sites |

## How to read it

- Unlike ["Used as source"](https://survelium.com/docs/metrics/used-as-source.md), here an answer with many links weighs
  more. The two numbers answer different questions: "how many answers cite you?" versus "what part of the sources
  are you?".
- The **Domains** table below the number shows who has the rest: each domain with its share of citations and how many
  different pages on it were cited.
- **URLs** shows each cited page and its place among an answer's sources (average, best, worst).

## Where it appears

- **Domains & URLs** — the number in the Domains tab, the domains table, the URL rankings and the coverage by content
  type.
