AI searches
What AI assistants search for on the web before answering your prompts, and how often.
When an AI assistant searches the web to answer, it does not search for your exact prompt: it breaks it into one or more searches of its own (for example "best translation agencies Bucharest prices"). The AI searches page shows them, prompt by prompt.
The numbers
Searches — how many different searches the models ran for the prompt. Two searches that differ only by capital letters or spaces count once.
Answers that searched — how many answers reported at least one search, out of how many came from the models that report searches:
answers that searched ÷ answers from the models that report searches
Next to each search: in how many answers it appeared, out of the same total. A search repeated in the same answer counts once.
Example
A prompt has 8 answers from ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. 6 searched. The search "certified translations price per page" appears in 4 of them: "in 4 of 8 answers".
What counts and what doesn't
| Counts | Doesn't count |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, which report their searches | Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview and Copilot, which don't report them |
| Answers from the date we started recording searches | Answers older than the first recorded search in the period |
| Finished answers, with text | Failed runs and empty answers |
Searches are recorded from October 14, 2026. Before that the page is empty.
Compared with Google Search Console
If the brand has Google Search Console connected, each search shows how your site does in Google for it, over the last 90 days:
- In Google: N impressions, position X — your site was shown in Google for a similar query, with the page that collected most of those impressions. Hover the ⓘ to see the Google query it was compared with.
- No page — your site got no Google impressions for anything like this search. These searches also appear on Opportunities, under "AI searches without a page", with a button that starts a brief aimed at the search.
Searches are compared by shared words, not letter by letter: capital letters, diacritics, filler words ("the", "best", "cel mai bun"), years and lookup details ("address", "phone", "prices") are ignored, and word endings are cut, so "translator" and "translators" count as the same word. A Google query matches when most of its words are in the AI search. Search Console data is refreshed every night; without a connection, no search is marked "No page".
How to read it
- The searches are the assistants' real keywords. If one appears in most answers, it deserves a page on your site that answers it directly.
- Compare with Missing sources: the pages competitors get cited for are often the results of these searches.
Where it appears
- AI searches — the "AI searches by prompt" table, with each prompt opening to its list of searches.
