Quickstart
From a new brand to your first numbers — what to do on day one and what to check after the first week.
A new brand has numbers after its first check, which starts as soon as you create it. The steps below are the same as the Get set up list at the bottom of the left menu, which checks itself off as you complete them.
1. Add your brand
Add brand has three steps:
- Brand — the name, its variants (e.g. "Acme" for "Acme Inc.") and the website domain.
- Prompt source — where the suggested prompts start from: SEO keywords, a website page or brainstorming. This is also where you choose the language and the country: prompts are asked in the chosen language, and answers differ from one market to another.
- Select prompts — pick between 3 and 15 of the suggested prompts; you can edit them or add your own.
Create brand & start monitoring starts the first check right away. Details in Brands.
2. Review your prompts
Prompts decide what you measure. A good prompt sounds like a question from a customer who doesn't know you yet: "which courier is good for a small online store?", not "is company X any good?". See Choosing prompts.
3. Wait for the first check
Each prompt is asked to each AI model. When the check finishes, the brand's Dashboard shows visibility, position and sources. If the first check fails, Retry first check appears on the Dashboard.
From then on, checks run automatically, once a day. See How we collect data.
4. Mark your competitors
Competitors lists every brand named in answers. Use Mark Direct on your real competitors: only they count toward share of voice, position and rankings. See Competitors.
5. Connect your site
Two optional integrations that add a lot:
- AI traffic — which AI bots read your site and how many people come from assistants.
- Google Search Console — prompts from people's real searches and the Google demand next to each prompt.
After the first week
- Read Where you're missing and Missing sources: they show the prompts you lose and the pages that would get you into answers.
- Follow Improving your visibility.
- The weekly digest arrives by email on Monday; you can turn it off or send it to other colleagues from Reports.
